Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is the most common bariatric surgery performed these days for weight loss. The operation usually takes ~45minutes.
This video was from a case I performed which took ~30minutes and was edited down to ~4minutes.
This procedure is now called a laparoscopic vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) because the staple line runs vertically from the pylorus. Weight loss is approximately 60-70% of excess body weight. The procedure can be done with a variety of energy devices but in this video the harmonic scalpel was utilized.
