So I got some messages on Snapchat yesterday that you guys wanted to see more of the behind the scenes surgical stuff – we’ll do that today.
We’re going to start the surgery by introducing a needle, the insufflating with some CO2 gas. Very tiny tiny incision. After that goes that long needle. A veris needle. Then a hose with CO2 is attached from the machine over there. And we start.
This instrument right here does the magic, this delivers the CO2 to certain pressure. The abdomen is insufflated and after that we insert the trocars, which are those instruments right there. There you can see the veris needle inside the abdomen. Tiny incision right there. And then will come the trocar, the access port to work.
The trocar incision. See how it pops, right there. There’s the gas release that means we’ll in the correct space. Se’ll set to start. We introduce this long scope which is a camera. Goes inside. Watch this. That’s what we see over there. The rest of our movements are seen by this camera. Then we insert the rest of the trocars.
Let me show you something cool, that’s the abdominal wall right there. Can you see that tiny speck right there, thats the initial needle introduction right there.
So we start surgery by releasing the stomach from the fat tissue. Part of the stomach close to the spleen. Now finishing the dissection of the lower part of the stomach in connection with the duodenum. That’s the first portion of the intestine.
Up next we’ll use a stapler. That’s the gun right there with these cartridges. It has try-staple technology. This means it throws 3 lines of staples. Three on one side and 3 on the other. The line in the center is the blade. All this material is disposable material. So that’s how we craft a sleeve. So far we’ve fired one cartridge right here. That’s the line of staples. And we’ll start firing this one here. We finish by over suturing the staple line. That’s the part of the stomach removed.
